Tasmania

Tasmania

Tasmania, the island state, lies off the south east coast of Australia. It is largely uninhabited, with deserted beaches, mountains, 17 national parks and rugged coastlines all waiting to be explored by those who love the outdoors. No wonder then that Tasmania has become a favorite for hikers from around the world. There is also a rapidly growing wine industry and boutique vineyards are plentiful. Whether it's trout fishing, cycling, hiking, scuba diving, exploring historic buildings or just visiting with the friendly locals Tasmania has a lot to offer. The best time to visit is during the Tasmanian summer and in particular the months of January and February.

Hobart & Surroundings

Hobart & Surroundings

Hobart and its surrounding towns of Richmond to the north-east and Kettering to the south, is an intriguing blend of heritage and lifestyle, scenery and vibrant culture. It's a city defined by the river and sea. 15 miles and 100 years from the city is the historic town of Richmond - in the narrow cells of the old Richmond Gaol, Tasmania's convict past seems just a clink of chains away. Close by are the neat vineyards and wineries of the Coal River Valley, home of superb cool-climate wines. A visit to Port Arthur is recommended for the beauty of its setting and its colorful history. Hobart is an ideal base for Tasmanian journeys.
