Travel North to Sydney
The 5 day coastal drive between Sydney & Melbourne offers many fine experiences along the way, including Wilsons Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Shoalhaven and Batemans Bay. This is a part of Australia often overlooked by visitors, however for those who want to venture a little off the beaten track, you will be well rewarded. The scenery is great, the white sand beaches stunning, Australian wildlife and forest is on display and the people warm and welcoming. For details of the places you visit after crossing into New South Wales please go to the State of New South Wales - Travel South Of Sydney page of uplanit.com
Choose from the following
Wilsons Promontory
'The Prom', as it is fondly called, is at the southern most point of mainland Australia. Renowned for its spectacular scenery, the 120,000 acre national park features magnificent and secluded beaches, cool fern gullies, great views, spectacular rock formations and an abundance of wildlife. The drive from the entrance of the park at Yanakie to Tidal River settlement is scenic and is well-signposted, with car parks, beaches and bushland accessible via side roads. However, the best way to enjoy the spectacular scenery is on one of the many walking trails throughout the peninsula.

Lakes Entrance
A popular holiday spot for over 100 years, Lakes Entrance has an easy seaside charm. Located on the edge of Ninety Mile Beach where the Gippsland Lakes meets the Southern Ocean, many of the local activities are water based. Lakes Entrance is renowned as the 'Seafood Capital' of Australia. Enjoy a night out at one of the many fine restaurants in the area to experience the very best of delicious seafood menus. Visit nearby scenic Lake Tyers, bordered by the ocean, a state forest and a river that meanders inland to Nowa Nowa. Many clearly signposted short walks are a popular attraction for visitors.

Jervis Bay & Shoalhaven
The Shoalhaven region is home to the beautiful Jervis Bay, the Kangaroo Valley, Ettrema Wilderness, Budawang Ranges and Morton National Park. In this peaceful and relaxed place, far from the tourist trail you will find some of the friendliest people in Australia. Jervis Bay, one of only three marine parks in NSW, is famous for its pristine beaches. In fact, Hyams Beach is reputed to have the whitest sand in the world! From June to November, whale watching captivates visitors and scuba diving, fishing and surfing are popular pastimes. If you add this to your Wish List we will incorporate this route into your suggested self drive vacation.

Batemans Bay
120 miles south of Sydney on the Pacific Coast is Batemans Bay far from the crowds and a place to enjoy nature and tranquility. Continuing north you will pass through Termeil, Tabourie Lake, and Burril Lake and the pretty fishing villages of Ulladulla and Milton. If you add this to your Wish List we will incorporate this route into your suggested self drive vacation.
