Auckland & Hauraki Gulf Marine Park
Auckland is New Zealand's biggest city and the point of entry for most overseas visitors. Nearly one-third of the total population of the country live here and in the immediate surroundings. A favorite meeting point for visitors is the Viaduct Harbor the base from which New Zeland defended the Americas Cup in 2000 & 2003, located right in the heart of downtown Auckland. This is an area of fine hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars with the nearby suburbs of Ponsonby, Newmarket and Remuera also featuring as favorite eating out places. The city is located on a beautiful harbor that gives it it's name of 'The City of Sails' and is a short distance from the islands of the magnificent Hauraki Gulf.
