Bay of Islands & Northland
Northland was the first region to be settled in large numbers by Europeans, in fact the small town of Russell, (just over 3 hours by car from Auckland), was briefly the nation's capital. It is also a region with a strong and vibrant Maori presence. Northland has the warmest climate, many beautiful white sand beaches and attractive native forests with golf, swimming, and fishing among its many attractions. American author Zane Grey was a regular visitor to the Bay of Islands and his fishing exploits made this region a magnet for fishermen from all over the world. If you enjoy history, culture, sunshine, and the outdoor life, then Northland is for you.

Tour to Cape Reinga & Ninety Mile Beach
From the set-off point at Paihia the first stop on this full day guided tour will be the Puketi Kauri Forest for a 20 minute boardwalk stroll amongst 1000-year old kauri trees. Then pass by golden sand beaches at Whangaroa, Coopers Beach, Cable Bay and Taipa before making a refreshments stop at Ancient Kauri Kingdom. Afterwards to Cape Reinga departing place for Maori spirits and where the Tasman Sea and mighty Pacific Ocean crash together beneath the lighthouse. Walk out to the lighthouse and post a card home at New Zealand's most northern mailbox. Other highlights include the Te Paki Quicksand Stream (which we navigate by coach very carefully!) thrilling sand tobogganing on boogie board down the giant Te Paki Sand Dunes and travelling by coach down the vast Ninety Mile Beach.

Thread 'The Hole in the Rock' & Meet the Local Dolphins
A day to enjoy watching bottlenose & common dolphins racing alongside the boat showing off their aerobatic skills. Often you will also see seals, orcas, whales and penguins. When we find dolphins, conditions permitting, you can put on a wetsuit and try boom netting - a great way to get close to these wonderful creatures even if you are not a confident swimmer. Visit the famous 'Hole in the Rock' where the skipper skillfully navigates the boat before gliding into spectacular Grand Cathedral Cave. The day ends with a stop on a secluded island to do whatever you please, be it a picnic lunch, snorkeling, hiking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
From $69 USD per person

Discover the beauty of Whangaroa Harbor
Whangaroa Harbor is one of those hidden New Zealand gems not highly publicized but very popular with all who have made the effort to travel further north of The Bay of Islands. Your guide Tony Foster, scientist and long time Whangaroa resident, will share with you his love of the forest and sea. He conveys a strong sense of knowledge and care for the environment with his stories of the flora and fauna, geology, history of the land, the people and the harbor.

Visit the Waipoua Forest with Footprints Waipoua
A visit to the Waipoua Forest is an opportunity to see the largest and most magnificent native kauri trees in New Zealand, some of them over a thousand years old. The most famous is Tane Mahuta or the 'Lord of the Forest', which has a girth of 45', a trunk height of 58' and a total height 169'. If you add this to your Wish List we will arrange a twilight encounter tour with a local Maori guide where you will experience the sounds of the forests and hear about myths and legends of ancient times, a truly unforgettable experience.
