Cromwell & Central Otago
This region of New Zealand, affectionately referred to as "Central" by the locals is being discovered by increasing numbers of overseas visitors. It's a unique and stunningly beautiful part of the country with open spaces, rugged, snow capped mountains, clear blue rivers, deep gorges and picturesque alpine lakes. In recent years Central Otago has established itself as a world class wine producing region, especially it's Pinot Noir that has swept all before it in winning a multitude of international awards. New Zealand actor Sam Neil and his 'Two Paddocks Winery' has been at the forefront of this development for over a decade. A history that was dominated in the 1860's by the gold rush days has left it's impressions on this region.
